Civitavecchia [M] is a city in the province of Rome [M], region of Lazio [S], in central Italy.

From any departure point, reach the A12 Genova – Rome [M] highway and exit at Civitavecchia [M]. Follow the signs for Civitavecchia centro / Sardegna on S.S. 1 Aurelia for about three kilometers.
From any departure point, arrive at the Rome [M] Termini train station. From here, take the regional FR5 trains or Intercity train to Grosseto and get off at the Civitavecchia [M] station.
Civitavecchia [M] is the ferry port of Rome [M] with daily ferries departure to Sardinia [M] Olbia [S] and Porto Torres, Barcelona, Palermo [M], Toulon, Tunis and Porto Vecchio [S]. Cruise Passengers have use of a free shuttle to the port entrance, within easy walking distance of stores and a train station for economical travel to Rome. (See same section for Rome.)
Civitavecchia [M], the port of Rome [M], is the point of arrival and departure of hundreds of ships, cruises, ferries travelling all around the Mediterranean. From here it is possible to reach Sardinia [M], Corsica, Sicily [M], Spain, France, some other small islands, and even north Africa [S]. A good transportation system links the port to the Eternal City.
The main street between the train station and the harbor has a lot of resturants, pizzarias, bars, ect for some good food that can be found relatively cheap. Many people hang out here at night and sit around and have a bite to eat and some vino. Great place to people watch in this small town.
It is a little over an hour train ride to the main station in Roma. Simply take the train from beginning to end and you will be at the Termani station in the heart of Rome [M]. Tickets cost about 4.5 euros each way. Drinks are allowed on the train. From here you can go almost anywhere in Europe.
